Historic House Garden
I am a huge fan of historic houses. I was very excited to have the opportunity to enhance the beauty of this one! It is landlocked behind another stunning old colonial home. Deer pretty much hang out here daily. They must enjoy the quite seclusion! What a challenge that is! The existing landscape was just up against the house. Consisting of very old overgrown Azaleas that were hiding the porch and enhancing nothing. This area was divided up as lawn and a small gravel path which served no purpose. This could now be treated as one large perennial garden area, which makes this space look larger.
The left side of the home has no windows and needed something interesting. I designed a lattice wall to be attached, where we grow Akebia vine in the part shade.
