Greenwood lake Garden
*Navigate to “garden plans” to see the blueprint of this design. This is a weekend home for a client on Greenwood Lake. The entrance from the street is downhill through a shady area with mature trees. My client had beautiful Bluestone stairs installed, and was ready for the eye candy part! The beds were mostly empty and in need of a makeover. Mature maple trees always pose a planting challenge. Plans were created, and tough perennials chosen for dry shade conditions. There is also a parking island that we planted up, leaving the far side of it with the existing Pachysandra. The sun garden side had existing Arborvitae for screening but was otherwise bare. We added shrubs... Hydrangea, Viburnum, Spirea and a nice variety of perennials to keep the blooms coming from spring through fall. Adding a contemporary birdbath gave a much needed focal point to the sunny side. The clients had a few nice large driftwood pieces that we incorporated into the shade garden.
